Kaiseki Dining in the Guest Room

Nishimuraya Honkan & Nishimuraya Hotel Shogetsutei are proud to maintain the tradition of serving dinner in the guest room. One of the highlights of staying at a ryokan is enjoying the local cuisine featured in a kaiseki dinner, which is the traditional Japanese-style course dinner.

A typical kaiseki dinner has 10 courses, served dish by dish in an artisan style. There is nothing more relaxing and convenient than enjoying dinner in the guest room. The room attendant prepares and serves dish by dish leaving you free to enjoy the ambience of the guest room along with the tastes of the food.

It varies by menu, but a typical kaiseki dinner requires around 2 hours to serve from beginning to end. Drinks can also be ordered during dinner. Kaiseki feature many local specialties and ingredients, feel free to ask the attendant about anything you are curious about.

The attendant will enter and leave the room several times during the dinner, and if you require anything when the attendant is gone from the room you can make the request by dialing the reception desk from your guest room phone.

Kaiseki are full course and unlike alacarte dinners must be reserved in advance. A wide variety of menus, however, are available catering to those who prefer meat over seafood to vegetarian or vegan. Some booking web sites do not offer menu selection, so booking on the official web site is a recommended way to reserve the menu you want. You can also contact us to confirm or change your menu before arrival.
